Me.....
Hi! I'm Zenny Jay. Atlanta local for over 20 years and Artist my entire life. Growing up in Middle Georgia as a military brat left me with a strong desire to buck the system and think outside the box on pretty much well, everything. Piano was my first love of the Arts and painting just came naturally. I've enjoyed painting everything from canvas to furniture to gift boxes. Sharing my love of art with others and seeing their creations come to life really excites me.
Fun Fact: I was adopted as a baby in Savannah, Ga and then reunited Thanksgiving of 2000 with my birth parents and 4 full blooded siblings. Since they only lived an hour away from me, building a relationship with them was a like cooking instant grits! To this day I see my siblings and parents sometimes weekly as well as maintaining my relationship with my adopted family. Life is crazy amazing!
The "Adopt Art" initiative speaks to my experience with adoption and personal relationship with loving something created from another. My babies are an extension of myself, one that embodies the core of who I am. The curves resonate with my sensuality while the sharp lines embody the strict rules I grew up with. Compounding bold shapes and contrasting hues communicates how the relationship of nature vs. nurture created the artist you see today. It's not nature vs nurture but nature AND nurture vibrating in each layer of every one of my pieces. What you see is one layer after another where I go from feelings of inspiration to "well, let's see where this goes." Flowing through the abstractions knowing that things are always playing out in my favor allows me to truly enjoy the process. So when you purchase a piece of mine to me it's not simply sold, it's Adopted!
Mentoring and well honestly playing with the next generation really lights me up! Sharing my love of creating with our youth has always been important. I enjoy having the opportunity to do something I love and use it to raise money to help fund Atlanta based art programs that keep the creative spark alive in the next generation. A portion of all my sales goes towards Atlanta art based organizations. So when you adopt one of my pieces you are also helping to keep the arts alive! Thank you for partnering with me .
Aside from all that fun stuff I love working out, volunteering, outdoor anything, building stuff, my four legged child LuLu, my partner in Co-Creation Obasi and his teenage daughter.
